DOCUMENTARY FILM COURSES FOR ADULTS
FILMMAKERS COLLABORATIVE FOR ADULTS
Saturdays, November 2 - January 25, 11am - 3pm
A 10-week documentary-producing course centered on story development and fundraising. Learn the key ingredients in crafting the narrative arc in documentary filmmaking while developing a standard industry proposal for funding and engaging with filmmakers and specialists. $500 (scholarships available). Application deadline: September 30.
INTRO TO ADOBE PREMIERE PRO FOR FINAL CUT PRO EDITORS
Tuesdays, October 8 - October 22, 6:30pm - 9:30pm
In this workshop you will learn how to do everything you do in Final Cut Pro in this new version of Adobe Premiere Pro- the interface of the software, shortcuts, exporting projects for DVD and web-streaming, integrating projects from Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and importing project from Final Cut Pro via XML. $225.
INTRO TO EDITING USING ADOBE PREMIERE PRO
Tuesdays, November 12 - November 26, 6:30pm - 9:30pm
An accessible program for beginner editors with its technical-range and its cost-effective monthly subscription plan, Adobe Premiere Pro excels in working with any raw files from any camera, importing projects from both Avid and Final Cut Pro via XML, and integrating projects from other Adobe software including Photoshop, After Effects and Illustrator. $225.
THE ART OF DOCUMENTARY EDITING
Tuesdays, December 3 - December 17, 6:30pm - 9:30pm
This workshop is for those looking to explore storytelling structures and editing techniques to implement into their own film projects. While no hands-on editing will be done during the sessions, students will have the opportunity to share their own projects. Through the sessions, students will delve into the art of creating a scene, the power of verité footage, identifying story motifs, and developing your narrative arch. $225.
DOCUMENTARY FILM COURSES FOR YOUTH
TEEN PRODUCERS ACADEMY
Wednesdays & Fridays, October 2013 - May 2014, After-school
A yearlong film program where youth work in small teams to make a short documentary. We are looking for youth who have a story to tell, and want to make moving and honest films about subjects important to you and your communities. FREE, but must apply. Application deadline: September 27.
Saturdays, October 19 - January 25, 12pm - 3pm
For students ages 10 to 13, this fun and engaging 12 week program provides opportunities to learn about documentary films and work in teams to make a short documentary. Under the guidance of film professionals, students learn the fundamentals of documentary filmmaking including an approach that emphasizes direct observation and personal experience, working with HD cameras, Adobe Premiere editing software, and an introduction to integrating Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator into their final films. $1000. (20% with Maysles Family Membership, scholarships available).
FILM IN ACTION
Sundays, October 20 - December 15, 1pm - 3pm
For children ages 7 to 11, this 8-week film club program for children to begin thinking critically about what they watch, but also to have fun and develop an appetite for something other than the usual Disney fare. Participants will screen powerful films from China, Morocco, France, Italy, Congo, and Tibet, and use the films as a catalyst to discuss themes in a dynamic, active environment punctuated by popcorn, lively discussions, and movement-based activities. Previous film themes have included: Identity, Bullying, Migration, and Child-Parent Dynamics. $200, scholarships available.
